Pittacus Lore
Pittacus Lore is the pseudonym used for the Lorien Legacies series, including I Am Number Four.
The name refers to a character within the books - an Elder from the alien planet Lorien.
In reality, the books were conceived by James Frey and written primarily by Jobie Hughes as part of Frey's Full Fathom Five publishing company.
This arrangement became controversial, as Hughes had limited rights and compensation despite writing the bulk of the work.
The use of a fictional author persona added intrigue but also criticism about the ethics of the publishing deal and authorship claims.
