Matthew Symonds is a British journalist born in 1953.
He co-founded The Independent newspaper in 1986 and has since established himself as a respected writer in the technology and business sectors.
Symonds gained unprecedented access to Larry Ellison for his book Softwar, spending three years closely observing the Oracle CEO. This intimate approach allowed him to create a detailed portrait of Ellison and Oracle's operations.
Since 2018, Symonds has served as the executive director of the Larry Ellison Foundation.
He is also known for his personal connection to British politics, as his daughter Carrie is married to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
