James Hillman
James Hillman was an American psychologist who founded the movement of archetypal psychology.
Born in 1926, he served in the US Navy Hospital Corps before studying at the Sorbonne and Trinity College, Dublin.
He received his PhD from the University of Zurich and his analyst's diploma from the C.G. Jung Institute.
Hillman was Director of Studies at the Jung Institute and later became editor of Spring Publications.
His book Re-visioning Psychology was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
He co-founded the Dallas Institute for Humanities and Culture and continued writing and lecturing until his death in 2011 from bone cancer.
